Saskatchewan Drug Plan (SDP) beneficiaries who travel out of the province for extended periods of time may now be able to receive up-front reimbursement for their prescriptions. Previously, pharmacists were only able to bill for three months worth of prescription costs at a time. The new policy and enhanced computer system will allow pharmacists to bill six months of prescription costs to SDP for approved beneficiaries. The new policy is expected to affect 2,000 people, many of whom are retirees who spend the winter in warmer climates. More information on the policy can be found at the SDP website.
