On October 26, 2020, the House of Commons Standing Committee on Health agreed to undertake a study on the Patented Medicine Prices Review Board’s Final Guidelines issued on October 23, 2020. These guidelines will support the implementation of amendments made to the Patented Medicine Regulations in August 2019. Both the regulatory amendments and the guidelines are set to come into force on January 1, 2021
As part of this study, the Committee has invited interested stakeholders and individuals to submit their requests to appear before the Committee and their written submissions to the Clerk of the Committee no later than November 6, 2020. The output of the Committee’s Study will be a report which may include recommendations. While the Minister of Health must respond to the Committee’s study, none of the report’s recommendations are binding to the Ministry of Health or to the PMPRB.
