Effective June 14, 2019, Mélanie Bourassa Forcier is Vice-Chairperson of the Patented Medicine Prices Review Board (PMPRB)
Professor Bourassa Forcier is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Law at the Université de Sherbrooke, and directs the Law and Health Policy, and Law and Life Sciences programs. She has expertise in the regulation, marketing and reimbursement of new medical technologies. Professor Bourassa Forcier is particularly interested in the potential for new medical technologies to make health systems more efficient, incentives for their development, and barriers to their implementation. She has published numerous books and articles on pharmaceutical regulation and health law.
Professor Bourassa Forcier holds a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Patent Law from McGill University, an MSc in International Health Policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and an LL.L. from the University of Ottawa.

In addition to her duties as a Board member, the Vice-Chairperson assists the Chairperson (Dr. Mitchel Levine) and replaces him if he is absent. The Vice-Chairperson works closely with the Chairperson, maintaining knowledge and understanding of PMPRB activities, and advises him on issues related to the policies and processes of the PMPRB and participates with the Chairperson in the development and recommendation of Board policies.
