The final phase of Nova Scotia’s Fair Drug Pricing, bringing the price the province pays for generic drugs down to 35 per cent of the relevant brand price, goes into effect in the province today. This is the last of the three-step phase-in of the policy that began in July 2011, when generic prices were capped at 45 percent of the brand price. Prior to the implementation of the Fair Drug Pricing legislation the government was paying approximately 65 per cent of the brand price for generic drugs.
